The State runs out of funds... and the Governor and the Legislature continue to squabble and can't agree on a budget...

The U.S. Govt. is slightly better placed in that it can print money to overcome it's shortfall...but California can't... so it starts issuing IOUs.. I wonder what it will be like to try cashing an IOU at a bank...

Doctorates are supposed to be awarded to people based on academic achievement, so how can universities justify giving "honorary doctorates" to people who've not met that particular achievement. I saw this story on NDTV yesterday and it really surprised me. Apparently there have been 70 racist attacks on Indians in the last 5 months, to the point where it has now become a diplomatic issue. What the hell is going on man?

This has been a debate topic for some time, but the admins at VTCB are now proposing that the Zimbabwe forum be removed.

The threads on it wouldn't be all deleted, the better ones would be most likely merged onto Pot Pourri, which is where all discussion about Zimbabwe should be conducted from now on....
